The Chinese capital is booming with more designer boutiques and international brands launching in Beijing, according to James Assersohn in JLL’s newly released ‘Welcome to Retail in Asia Pacific’ report.
JLL has released their 'Welcome to Retail in Asia Pacific' report, and looking at the Beijing market, they have detected an increase in upmarket retailers entering the market and many international brands also opening stores. They also commented on high-volume streets for retail across the Chinese capital.
As China’s capital, Beijing remains a coveted location for international retailers looking to enter or expand in the vast China market, especially within North China.
Beijing at a glance:
Once famed for its open-air markets, the Chinese capital is now flush with modern malls, mega flagships, and designer boutiques.
Sanlitun is known for its trendy vibe, while Guomao offers an upmarket experience. Traditional retail precinct Wangfujing, meanwhile, presents a multitude of options in one of the most storied pockets of the city.
The suburban mall boom also continues to attract retailers from across the globe, particularly as families increasingly flock to shopping malls to eat, shop, and be entertained.
New brands to market: Abercrombie & Fitch, Gentle Monster, Lululemon, Topman, Golden Goose Deluxe Brand, Filorga, Marcelo Burlon, and Versus Versace.
JLL in their report feature the main high street location in the city: Heralded as “the most famous shopping street in China” and a must-see destination for tourists, Wangfujing high street pairs dynamic retail varieties with exciting food and beverage choices scattered across 800 metres of pedestrianised road.
