King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia has agreed to bestow the honorary title of “Oknha” on Chandy Mann, Head of Country at IQI Cambodia.
King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia has agreed to bestow the honorary title of “Oknha” on Chandy Mann, Head of Country at IQI Cambodia. Acting Head of State Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum will make the official presentation at the Office of the Council of Ministers this week.
“Oknha” is a symbol of nobility and the highest title that a non-royal civilian may receive from the Cambodian king. The king only bestows the title on a small number of individuals in recognition of their service to the country. Mr Chandy will be the only person to receive the title at his ceremony. The “oknha“ title is of historic importance and has been used in the country since the fifteenth century.
Mr Chandy is Head of Country of the leading real estate agency, IQI Cambodia. IQI Cambodia is part of the fast-growing Asian real estate technology group, Juwai IQI. The group operates in more than 15 countries and closed 17,000 sales and rental transactions in 2020.
Juwai IQI Co-Founder and Group CEO Kashif Ansari said, “We are extremely proud of Chandy for everything he has accomplished professionally and for his services on behalf of the kingdom of Cambodia. Chandy has dedicated his own resources towards making valuable community projects possible. The important projects he has funded include building a new road in an underserved area, constructing a canal for community use and funding scholarships and living expenses so rural youth can attend university.
“Chandy has driven fast growth at IQI Cambodia since the official grand opening in 2019. He leads a team that provides excellent service to the real estate industry and to consumers.
“IQI Cambodia fills a need in the Cambodian market for real estate services empowered by advanced technology, making it easier to buy and sell property – not just locally, but also across borders.”
Mr Chandy said, “I'm deeply humbled to receive this honour from the king. I do my best to demonstrate that I deserve it by the merit of my actions in the years to come.
“I am proud of my country and everything our people have accomplished in recent years. I look forward very much to seeing Cambodia grow and become increasingly prosperous and successful in the years to come. I believe Cambodia has a very bright future.
“This title will be of great value to me in my real estate career because it demonstrates that I am not only a businessman but also contribute to the community at large.”
