Goodman Group has completed the third of four planned buildings at its 225MW Tsuen Wan West data centre campus in Hong Kong, handing over the 50MW facility to data centre operator GDS, says Paul McGarry, Goodman’s Head of Asia.
Goodman Group (ASX:GMG), a provider of essential infrastructure, has completed the third building at its Goodman Tsuen Wan West data centre campus in Hong Kong. The 50MW data centre was handed over to GDS, a leading developer and operator of high-performance data centres in Asia, in a traditional ceremony.
Goodman’s Head of Asia, Paul McGarry, said, “This is the latest data centre completion at the brand new 225MW Goodman Tsuen Wan West campus, further demonstrating our ability to provide the essential infrastructure needed to support Hong Kong’s digital economy.”
Goodman purchased the old textiles factory in 2014, and after an extensive power, design and planning process, commenced construction of the first building in 2019. The first two buildings were fully leased on completion in 2022. The third building is now complete, with the fourth building due for completion by the end of 2024 – both leased to GDS.
Jamie Khoo, CEO of GDS International, said, “We are excited to commence MEP construction on HK3, our third data centre facility in Hong Kong. This facility underscores our dedication to innovation and sustainability, while addressing the growing demand for data centre services driven by advancements in cloud computing and AI. Positioned close to GDS HK1 and HK2, HK3 will form a powerful data centre cluster, offering expanded capacity to meet our customers' evolving needs. We are confident this development will further strengthen our position in Hong Kong’s dynamic market.”
Paul McGarry added, “this handover at Goodman Tsuen Wan West to GDS continues our track record of successfully delivering complex large-scale projects, in major global cities, helping improve speed to market for our customers.”
Goodman is one of the largest providers of data centres in Hong Kong, where it has been providing data centres since 2005. The company is focused on delivering its 5GW global power bank, of which 1.8GW is in Asia.
