Newly-renovated CBRE Tokyo office has earned the prestigious WELL Certification at the Platinum level from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI).
CBRE (Japan headquarters: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded WELL Certification at the Platinum level for its Tokyo office by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). The prestigious distinction was awarded through IWBI’s WELL v2, the latest version of the WELL Building Standard.
WELL Certification is an internationally recognized building rating system that focuses on the impact of a building’s environment on human health and well-being. It is administered by IWBI and certified by Green Building Certification Inc. (GBCI). The WELL building standard assesses properties and their indoor environment and operations against ten categories: Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Movement, Thermal Comfort, Sound, Materials, Mind and Community. Buildings are awarded Platinum, Gold, or Silver certification based on their performance across these categories.
CBRE’s Japan headquarters underwent a major expansion and renovation project which was completed in January 2024. It was developed as a “human-centric office” – one that brings people together; promotes wellbeing, productivity, and empowerment; and delivers financial benefits.
Project features that helped the CBRE Tokyo office achieve its WELL Certified Platinum rating include:
Hard aspects
✓ Zoning that considers light and sound comfort (areas that have varying brightness levels, conversation-free zones, and BGM zones)
✓ Introduction of ergonomic workstations (adjustable desks and high-performance chairs)
✓ Introduction of a nap room called “Chotto Ne Room” that utilizes light, sound, and smell ✓ Installation of artwork that matches the concept of each area
Soft aspects
✓ Upgrade of company café menu (increased number of vegetable and fruit options)
✓ Provision of mental health support and mindfulness programs
✓ Workplace development and implementation of training programs that support diversity and inclusion
Through its Workplace Strategy, Project Management, and Design service offerings, CBRE will leverage its own WELL Certification experience to continue to support clients create an optimum workplace.
The CBRE Group is committed to addressing environmental and social issues, and contributing to the development of a sustainable society.
